This is an excerpt from real life.
Me:
Why are people so WEIRD and why is life so WEIRD and why why why?
I love Kurt Vonnegut. Such nuggets of wisdom...
"Tiger got to hunt Bird got to fly Man got to sit and wonder 'Why, why, why?' Tiger got to sleep Bird got to land Man got to tell himself he understand."
Friend: I love people.
Even though I hate them.
There's nothing in the world more interesting than people and how they act.
I don't understand scientists for that reason.
Me: Why?
Friend: Why would you waste your time studying rocks or chemicals or stars when there are PEOPLE!
Me: It's all based on science though!
Friend: Infinitely more complex and interesting.
Me: But a man's environment is so much a part of who he is
Friend: Perhaps
But personally, to me, there is nothing more interesting than people and how they interact with one another in large groups.
Me: I suppose. But I think nature is so interesting! The natural beauty of this world is UNFATHOMABLE to me.
Friend: But Gavi,
We
Are natures greatest creation.
Not that nature isn't amazing and beautiful.
Me: Are we though? We're really not. There are such incredible creatures on this earth. I mean, there are fish that can change genders, and lizards that can regenerate limbs, because God made all living things programmed for survival. This earth is just FILLED with the most fascinating creatures, I can't even begin to comprehend it. Humans are included in that
Friend: True, but we're still the best.
Me: Haha, true. We're the keepers of the garden of Eden, are we not?
Friend: God kicked us out and now we've made a better one.
A technological one!~CIVILIZATION!
Me: Do you believe in God?
Friend: I wish I did. I think I would be less afraid of death.
Me: What an interesting analysis.
Friend: My core belief is just that humans must work together so that we may live longer, become happier and advance forever.
Me: My core belief is that I have no idea why we are here.
Friend: I like yours better.
